Alberta COVID-19 Vaccine QR Code Checker Now a Downloadable App

EDMONTON –

The Government of Alberta has launched an app that businesses can use to scan QR codes for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The app, AB Covid Records Verifier, is available for download from the Apple and Android app stores.

Much like the current proof of vaccination card, Albertans will scan their QR code when entering a business participating in the province’s restriction exemption program and show their identification.

“When a valid QR code is scanned, a green check mark will verify proof of vaccination. It’s that easy for businesses and Albertans participating in REP, ”Premier Jason Kenney told media on Tuesday.

Health Minister Jason Copping called it a “safer” vaccine dossier and said more than 800,000 people had already accessed their QR codes.

Albertans who have been vaccinated can download their proof of vaccination QR code from alberta.ca/covidrecords and download it, take a screenshot or print it, Copping said.

The app will not store personal information, Kenney and Copping said.

After Monday, November 15, the code will become the only proof of vaccination document in Alberta.

The premier said he expects Alberta to have a proof of vaccination program until “at least the first quarter of next year, 2022”.

“We are heading into an uncertain time, although we continue to see a downward momentum in the number of cases and the number of hospitalizations. Even as we come out of this fourth wave … people are spending more time there. ‘inside. “

Kenney and Copping said the Alberta Vaccine Passport, which was introduced three weeks ago as a restriction exemption program, is having the desired effect.

Alberta Health shows that 85 percent of eligible Albertans, those aged 12 and older, have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This is up from 78 percent a month ago.

Over 75 percent received the two required doses.
