Candid Collingwood cannonball shot really breaks out for soda maker

“This photo turned out perfectly, so we submitted it and they loved it,” Collingwood’s mom said of the image that will be on Jones Soda labels across Canada.

A photo taken by a Collingwood family will adorn the packaging of a famous brand of soda.

Ashley Plewes’ photo of her son, Ben, jumping into a swimming pool on a hot summer day was recently selected for the Root Beer Jones Soda Co. label on bottles sold across Canada.

“I was so excited. I was floored. We’ve been submitting photos for a few years. How often does something like this happen?” Plewes said.

The photo shows her eight-year-old son, Ben, shooting a cannonball in his grandfather’s pool.

“This photo turned out perfectly, so we submitted it and they liked it,” Plewes said.

This is the second time that a photo submitted by the Collingwood mom has been featured by the company. About 11 years ago, an engagement photo she submitted of herself and a former boyfriend was also featured and adorned the packaging, although she had never seen a bottle. with his photo in person.

Since then, Plewes has made a habit of submitting photos over the years of his children and family in the hopes that they will be selected.

“You don’t have to be a professional to submit photos. It’s super easy, ”she said.

The family will now keep an eye on the bottles with their photo and will continue to take photos of their lives in the hope that they can be selected again.

“I love photography. I submit my kids’ photos to all kinds of contests,” Plewes said. “(My son) thinks it’s cool, but I think I’m more excited about it than he is. . “

“The bottle is distributed across Canada. We just found out last week, so we’re going to start keeping our eyes open, ”she said.
