Discord Users Report Spell Checker Not Working on Website or Browser

Discord is one of the most popular VoIP and instant messaging platforms on the internet. Users can easily communicate with each other via direct messages or chat in communities called servers.

Launched in 2015, the app has grown in popularity and as of 2021 has over 140 million monthly active users.

That said, users often come across bugs and issues like the phone number verification system not working and the in-app Twitter links not loading for many.

And now Discord users are saying that the spell checker is not working as expected on the website or browser version (1,2,3).

Many say they are unable to type accurately because of the problem while others say it takes a while to see if what they are typing is correct or not.

Users have already tried clearing the browser cache and cookies, but it seems that doesn’t help either. Here’s what Discord users have to say about the spell checker not working issue.

Last week, the spell check feature stopped working on the Discord website. I used Discord for years through Chrome with no problem, but all of a sudden the feature disappeared. Spell check works on all other websites where text can be typed. So I’m trying to figure out where the problem is. Discord tech support isn’t having much luck with a fix either, but God knows I need a spell check because my typing can be pretty terrible. I’ve already tried clearing cache and cookies, logging in and out of Discord, even reinstalling Chrome, but that made no difference. Does somebody have an idea?

literally the same thing happened to me 4 days ago. (red underline/spell check) only works on twitch and discord but no issues elsewhere.. iv also tried all of the above with no solution. wondering if that means chrome made an update doing a spell check selection of sites.. hope there’s a fix soon.. my typing depends on it 🙂

Ultimately, Discord reportedly acknowledged the issue and said they were working on a fix. However, there is no ETA on when the issue will be resolved.

It happens to me too. I contacted Discord and received the following: Thank you for sharing this report! Please note that our support team does not have an exact time of when a fix will be available, and we will not be able to offer an update or provide progress and status for this specific bug. .
