Businesses in Wales affected by the rapid spread of the Omicron virus can now know how much emergency financial assistance they can expect to receive from the Welsh government.
Economy Minister Vaughan Gething previously said £ 120million would be available for retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism and their supply chains affected by the crossing. alert 2 announced by the Prime Minister on Wednesday 22 December.
The support program includes funding from the Economic Resilience Fund (ERF), with an eligibility checker for this fund now available on the Business Wales website.
This will help businesses, including charities and social enterprises, assess how much they can expect to receive from the FER.
Eligible businesses can apply for grants of between £ 2,500,000 and £ 25,000, with grants depending on their size and number of employees.
The ERF application window will open within a week of January 17, 2022, with payments starting to flow to businesses within days. The application window will be open for two weeks.
Economy Minister Vaughan Gething said:
“We recognize that businesses face another extremely uncertain time as a result of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. The eligibility checker that goes live today will help them plan during this difficult time.
“Since the start of the pandemic, we have provided more than £ 2.6bn in support to businesses across Wales to help them cope under difficult circumstances. This latest £ 120million support package will further help affected businesses and we will provide them with financial support as quickly as possible. “
Non-core retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism businesses in Wales will also receive support from the Non-Domestic Tariffs Grant (NDR) which will be administered by local authorities. Companies will be entitled to a payment of £ 2,000, £ 4,000 or £ 6,000 depending on their assessed value.
Local authorities will also operate a discretionary fund for independent traders, freelancers, taxi drivers and businesses that employ people but do not pay professional rates.
The registration process for NDR-related grants and the application process for the Discretionary Fund will open the week of January 10, 2022.
