Laredo Float maker sees less demand this year

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) – The Anheuser-Busch Washington Anniversary Parade only happens once a year and many have worked hard to make this year special, especially after the hiatus of a year due to the pandemic.

Robbie Lopez says his company only had one week to complete six floats this year.

He says they managed to make it work by focusing on one float a day.

Due to the pandemic, Lopez says many businesses are cutting back on their efforts for this year’s festivities; his orders were reduced from 15 tanks to six.

Despite the many challenges and setbacks the pandemic has created; he hopes people still come out and enjoy the festivities.

Lopez says, “So come join us, cheer each other on, shout as much as you can, enjoy it with the people at the top. And like I said, it’s a lot of hard work that we put in sometimes we get here, around seven in the morning, and we don’t leave here until 8-9 in the evening every day. We only have a week like I said, so come join us, you know “”

If you can’t make it to the parade, the Anheuser-Busch Grand Parade will air live on our station on Saturday mornings on KGNS.

Coverage will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 11:30 a.m.

Then our broadcast will continue on The CW and our website until the final float hits the mark.
