Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has launched a new online vehicle verification tool to help businesses find out how they will be affected and any financial support they may be entitled to when a clean air zone is introduced on the roads from Greater Manchester next year.

The Vehicle Verification Tool will help businesses understand if their vehicles would be subject to a daily charge for driving in the Clean Air Zone, find out about exemptions, discounts and financial assistance to switch to cleaner vehicles they are looking for. might be entitled, and to sign up for future updates.

The tool will help companies prepare for the launch of financial support programs for the modernization and modernization of heavy goods vehicles; applications are open from November 30. Other types of affected vehicles, such as taxis, vans and minibuses, may apply for funding from January 2022.

Greater Manchester has received £ 120million from the government to help companies modernize their existing vehicles or purchase new vehicles to comply with the rules.

The Clean Air Zone aims to reduce harmful NO2 pollution on the Greater Manchester road network by levying a daily charge on the most polluting commercial vehicles; unlike an urban toll, private vehicles will not be affected. The zone comes into effect on May 30, 2022.
